Ever since my friend lent me "Nymphetamine", I've been on a Liv-Kristine high, so I eventually decided to use my new image editing software to make a (fairly basic) desktop background- thought I'd share incase anyone else wants to use it.

Ever have one of those times when you don't know whether to be happy, or scream, run away and hide?

OK, I applied to 6 universities through UCAS- Cardiff, Keele, Lancaster, Oxford, Warwick and York. The good news is that I have heard back from all of them- 5 conditional offers, and an invitation to interview from Oxford.

The bad news, however, is a) Warwick wants me to get AAB at A Level ( A in Maths and Further Maths) AND a STEP paper. Now, that might not sound so bad, but to everyone but the greatest geniuses, just looking at a STEP paper is enough to make you brain explode into a thousand gooey pieces, and b) I now have to spend 3/4 days in Oxford university, running all over the bloody city to get to interviews (for some mentalist reason, they require you to be interviewed multiple times). I don't like interviews. At all. Never mind multiple interviews. Not to mention, there's a 75% chance that I won't get in anyway, and they've been known to send out rejection letters on Christmas Eve. Heartless bastards.

Oh, and we have exams after Christmas....

... BASTARDISATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....

I think I'm going to go and watch the "Nymphetamine" video to cheer myself up. Liv Kristine *drools*...

Memories, Dreams and Fairytales

Disclaimer: No, I don’t own it. Yet another fascinating disclaimer. When I rule the entire world, I plan to write disclaimers saying “Yes, I damn well do own this. I own EVERYTHING!!! Muahahahahahahahahaha…” But that is a story for another time.

Rating: PG-13

Pairing: Mab/Nimue

Summary: She had always thought of Mab as half dream, part of a fairytale. But dreams and fairytales didn’t leave you with scratches on your arms and your thoughts in turmoil. I hate writing summaries.

Warning: f/f pairing, though it’s basically all implied. Nothing graphic.

Author’s Notes: Response to the Mab/Nimue challenge on MRAP. My first attempt at femslash, and my first attempt at anything even remotely resembling a ‘ship fic. Please don’t maim/mortally wound/kill me. Many thanks.

Reviews are much appreciated!

*does small dance of celebration*

After the horendousness that was filling in my UCAS form, I was expecting to have to wait several months to hear from my universities of choice. However, I've just checked my online application form, only to find that I have been offered a place at the University of York to study Maths, conditional on my getting grades AAB at A Level, with one of the As being in Maths.

*continues to dance happily*

After the evil form fillings of yesterday, there was no end to the thrillingness when this was the result I got from a particular quiz.

What type of Queen would you be?

Queen Mab of MagicYou are not cruel but not nice either. you have become numb to some of the smaller subtelties of ethics and morals. you rule with an iron fist of magical power. you only give respect to those who earn it and you would never bow down to anyone. They are supposed to bow down to you. Your own personal power ensures that your people will always be protected from outside forces. Noone will attack you because they fear you so. With your fellow mages and imps helping to keep order in you country you only have to worry about foreign relations and your own magic. All in all you are a ruthless but protective Queen.

Online forms are a nuisance. They are annoying, they take ages to fill in, and when you finally think you have finished them, you print them off and realise you typed in the wrong letter, or, after painstaking hours of searching out the correct option from an 80-foot long scroll box, realise you have buggered up the entry by accidently using your scroll bar without clicking out of the bloody box first. So why, oh why, do the poor innocent college students of today find themselves forced to use this stressful and bloody irritating method to fill in their University Application forms (obscurely known as UCAS forms)?!

Not only do we need a booklet telling us how to fill the bloody thing in, telling us which options to select, and when to print it off, and what buttons to press or your UCAS form won't be processed and what buttons you should ABSOLUTELY UNDER NO ACCOUNT PRESS!!! incase the whole world comes to an end; but when we come to the printable version of the form, and attempt to print it, a goodly part of the right hand side is missing. Call me naiive, but I assumed that "Printable version" translated as "a version that would print correctly". Not to mention that the form is hardly bloody legible becase they appear to have used a blind worm to design the final layout.

This weekend has not only heralded my finishing of the UCAS form, but also my first attempt at karaoke. My excuse: it was my friend's 18th birthday, five of us decided to sing YMCA together just so that we could say that we'd sung something, and at least two of my friends are almost as bad at singing as me. I won't bore you with the details, needless to say, the horror on the faces of the poor buggers watching was almost a sweet enough memory to sustain me through the UCAS process. Almost.

Which Nightwish song are you?

END OF ALL HOPE "Turn off the lights and let me pull the plug"Suicidal, depressed, anguished, fragileLife sucks. I suck. This quiz sucks. Duh. Whatever. Alright, hopefully the news that Nightwish or --insert favourite band here-- is coming to your country will brighten your otherwise skulking mood. If not...I'm afraid you're a hopeless case.

Hmmmm, how perplexing. Perhaps the answers I gave were somewhat strange, but this does not exactly describe me. I prefer to think of myself as somewhat evil and eccentric rather than dour and sulky.

On the other hand, who cares? I got my favourite Nightwish song, LOL.

*goes off to make some other people dour and sulky with my evilness*

Admittedly, the last post wasn't terribly informative. My apologies.

For those people that don't know me, I'm from the UK, I like metal (mostly female-fronted gothic, but I'll listen to the odd thrash or death metal track if I think they're any good).

I'm also slightly obsessed with the Hallmark Entertainment film "Merlin", most especially Queen Mab, and have posted a few fanfics about it at fanfiction.net. Here's a link to my profile there which has all the fics on it if anyone's interested in reading them:

And that is me.

Instead of skulking around in the background, I finally decided to give in and join LJ. Yay for me!
